Planting daffodil bulbs

Daffodils are spring bloomers, the bulbs bloom in spring and the daffodil bulbs can be planted from October to December. If you plant the daffodil bulbs in the fall, you will enjoy the beautifully colored flowers early in the spring. For the planting distance, keep 3x the width of the bulb, and also keep 3x the height of the bulb for planting. Daffodil bulbs can be planted manually in the ground. It is possibly useful to use a bulb-planter.

Order daffodil bulbs online

Daffodil bulbs are available from August to December (increasing to January while stocks last). Of course, you can be busy planning your spring garden, or balcony, and beautifying your surroundings before the season begins. It is therefore possible, before the season begins, to already order online flower bulbs, so you are assured of your preferred choice of daffodil bulbs. The daffodil bulbs are delivered at the right planting time, in a delivery week chosen by you! After you have placed an order, you will automatically receive an e-mail with an order confirmation. If you would like more information about ordering, please visit the 'how to order' page.

As soon as the daffodil bulbs are available they will be delivered at your doorstep. If you would like more information about the shipping, please visit the page 'shipping and delivery'.

Different kinds of daffodils

We offer a wide range of daffodils. For example, there are botanical wild-type daffodils, large- and small-crowned daffodils, trumpet daffodils and double flowered daffodils. Depending on which type of daffodil you plant, the flower blooms from February through May. After flowering, feel free to leave the bulb in the ground. They will naturalize and multiply, so you can enjoy even more flowers next year. To make your choice you can use the filter; choose for example the blooming period, the color, group or height.

History of the daffodil

As with the hyacinth, the name of the daffodil also stems from Greek mythology. Narcissus, the son of a nymph, was a very handsome young man who, by the sight of his own reflection in a small lake, fell so much in love with himself that he could not tear himself away from gazing for hours at this unattainable beauty and slowly withered away. Finally, the vengeance goddess Nemesis turned him into a narcissus. The forward head of the daffodil resembles the forward head of Narcissus. Therefore, the narcissus represents vanity and selfishness. The first daffodil Narcissus tazetta was first brought to the Netherlands from France in 1561. Although the origin of the daffodil's name is not positive, daffodils do carry positive meaning. The daffodil is naturally associated with spring and therefore symbolizes a new beginning.
